About us
Our core skill is that of interpretating the environment around us. With our associated design and writing skills we were able to produce the successful Classic Look at range of guides, full colour guides, audio guides and interpretation boards.
Bessacarr Publications, originally known as Bessacarr Prints, was founded in 1980. The name Bessacarr comes from a district of Doncaster, Yorkshire , where the business was first located. Jim Willans and his wife Christine, both teachers, ran the business together for many years. Their son, Tom Willans, took over on Christine's retirement.
We are still a family-run business and are now based in Warwick, in the West Midlands . In addition Tom is a Member of the British Computer Society and Chartered IT Practitioner and is studying for a PhD at Coventry University. His research is into the role of emotion within immersive worlds and learning. His wife Sue, in-keeping with family tradition, is an Acting Dean at a local University. Sue holds a Doctorate in Education and her thesis was in the area of e-learning. Together, they are committed to improving products and services to our customers.
Tom says:
"I am committed to building upon the strengths of our exisiting interpretation skills; as were applied to the Classic Look At guides which have sold so well. We have now updated to our range to now include full colour guides, audio guides and interpretation boards. Our communications and ways of working have been enhanced, utilising the benefits of modern technology. You can expect to see further improvement based upon your feedback."
We are corporate members of the Association for Heritage Interpretation.
